Chocolate lava cake recipe with a chocolate buttercream frosting – BBC Sport

Chocolate lava cakes are a delicious way to use up leftover chocolate.

Here’s how to make them at home.

First, make a chocolate cupcake batter.

Melt the buttercream in a large bowl over low heat.

Add the cocoa powder, sugar and vanilla extract, and mix until smooth.

Pour the batter into a cake tin, leaving the sides uncovered.

Pour half the batter in and the other half in.

Bake for about 30 minutes, or until golden and set.

Use a toothpick to poke holes in the top of the cake to release any remaining chocolate.

Repeat with the other chocolate cupcakes.
