Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Combine all of the ingredients in a bowl and beat until smooth.

Add the sour cream, flour, and butter and mix until incorporated.

Add in the flour mixture and mix to combine.

Add salt, cinnamon, baking powder, and baking soda and mix.

Add flour mixture, sour cream and butter, and mix just until combined.

Add butter and vanilla extract and mix well.

Pour batter into prepared cake pan.

Bake for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Allow to cool completely.

For the sprinkling, sprinkle powdered sugar on top of the sponge cake.

Topping the cake with powdered sugar is optional.

It doesn’t really matter if you do it or not, but it’s good to make sure.

Let the sponge cakes cool in the pan for at least an hour before slicing.

This will keep the spongecakes from getting too hard.

For more fun, serve the spongecake with a dollop of peanut butter and a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
